Olympic Medal Winner’s Vijay Kumar & Yogeshwar Dutt get the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award while 25 others get the Arjune Award this year.
Yesterday the Selection Committe for National Sports Awards 2012 has recommended 25 sportspersons to be conferred with the Arjuna awards this year, while the country’s highest sporting honour — the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna — to be jointly presented to Olympic medallists, shooter Vijay Kumar and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt.
These choices were made by a selection committee headed by 2004 Olympic silver-medallist shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and consisting sportspersons such as Akhil Kumar (boxing), Khajan Singh (swimming), Baichung Bhutia (football) and Ravi Shastri (cricket).

Note : The final list of award winners is expected to be announced in a couple of days by the sports ministry.
Generally, the names submitted by the Committees are accepted by the ministry.
Apart from a medal and a citation, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardees will receive a cash prize of Rs 7.5 lakh each and Arjuna Awardees will receive statuette, citations and cash prize of Rs 5 lakh each. The awardees will receive their awards from the President of India Pranab Mukherjee at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhawan on 29th August 2012.
