Tihar – Deepavali in Nepal 2014 / 2071 SMS, Messages, Greetings & Wishes

Tihar also known as “Deepawali” or “Diwali” or “the festival of lights” in terai region of Nepal is a five days long Hindu festival. It is celebrated every year in Nepal. The festival is celebrated from Trayodashi i.e. 13th day of Kartik Krishna to Dwitiya i.e. 2nd day of Katrik Shukla as per the Hindu calender which is in the month of October or November.

The first day is known as Kag Tihar, second day is Kukur Tihar, third is Gai Tihar and Laxmi Puja – the most important day of these five, forth is Gobardhan and Mha Puja and last but not the least is Bhai Tika.

In 2014, just like Diwali, Tihar festival starts on 21st October 2014 and the last day is on 25th October 2014.
